There is not a single organism living in this world, not one, that doesn’t breathe. Breath is a sign indicating that certain organism is currently living. Without which, it is considered dead or simply just a non-living thing. Breath is very crucial in the metabolism of every organism’s body because it is the most obvious feature that signifies whether certain organism is living or not. Breathing, or absorbing oxygen and excreting carbon dioxide, is actually not a single activity that stands by itself. Breathing activity is just a process among many organic processes that keep all organic systems within human’s as well as other organisms’ body run appropriately. When we are taking up oxygen from our surrounding, the respiratory system will bring the oxygen to our lung in which the oxygen is then transported to the entire part of the body through arteries. Oxygen intake for all bodily parts is very crucial because without which, they cannot work properly and if no oxygen is supplied for them in a rather long period of time, such parts as well as the entire bodily system will die. Once used, the wasted substance of breathing activity, the carbon dioxide, is transported to the lung through the veins to be excreted.
Since every substance contained by air that we absorb through our breathing activity is transported using blood vessels of artery and vein, while the blood itself contains somewhat comprehensive information about every material that is consumed by our body and everything that happens in it, the excreted carbon dioxide can be analyzed for the sake of studying the current condition of our body. Such analysis is conducted by employing breathalyzer test.
Breathalyzer is a device that can calculate the concentration of certain substances within our body by testing our breath. Breathalyzer is widely used to test the amount of alcohol within the body so people who consume alcoholic beverages can measure the restriction of alcohol intake that they should undergo.
